We check facts, not opinions.

iVerify is a Fact-Checking initiative of MISA Malawi in Lilongwe, Malawi. MISA Malawi is implementing iVerify with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). We have an independent team of experts in media, law and information technology working to protect the integrity of information by exposing and debunking false information. As an advocacy body in media freedom, freedom of expression and access to information, MISA Malawi looks at misinformation and disinformation as a threat to effective participatory democracy.

To ensure accurate and reliable verification, the iVerify system uses a tested triple-verification methodology where each content is reviewed and confirmed by three iVerify members before a verified report is published on our website.

True: The information is correct and accurate.

Half True: The information is partially correct but incomplete or lacking contextualization.

Unproven: The information cannot be verified at this moment as there is no publicly available evidence that allows to prove or disprove it.

Misleading: The information isn't factual and is deceiving and misinforming.

False: The information is incorrect or fabricated.

Harmful: Harmful and abusive language targeting specific individuals or groups.
